According to companies and experts from the industry, prices in clothing may be rising this year up to 30 percent or more. Cotton prices have more than doubled from last year and retail organizations will be feeling the stress of having to either raise prices or lower cotton-content in products.
Many companies are choosing to become a little creative in order to minimize inflation costs to their consumers. Using less cotton and more embellishments is an option. So is having thinner material and using a mixture of cotton and polyester- although there may be cost associated with using synthetic material to replace some of the cotton supplies. It is said that many synthetics are also rising in cost by up to 50 percent. Either way, retailers are going to have to choose between quality, price upswing or creative alternatives.
It simply comes down to this: expect higher clothing prices from many of your favorite retailers this year.
How will this affect retailers world-wide? What about local Bloomington businesses? Will you be personally affected?
At Infinity Print Group we may also eventually be affected by the rising costs of cotton. We offer many apparel options to our customers that want uniforms, t-shorts and more. As of right now this hasn’t hit us personally, but with the costs still rising, we could face problems in the future. If you would like to take advantage of some of our apparel options (cotton or otherwise), give us a call at 309-663-5551 or email Jessica at Jessica@infinityprintgroup.com.
